Biografía

ALONSO GUZMAN is a native Puerto Rican. As a child, Alonso dedicated his entire childhood studying martial arts – Tae Kwon Doh and Muay Thai training was his passion until he immigrated to the United States.

He accomplished 1st prize in the high-jump wood breaking category at the 2007 US OPEN Mix Martial Arts in Orlando, FL.

By 17, with the support of scholarships from the Oprah Winfrey Foundation Scholarship and the Olive Tree Foundation, he moved to NYC to study at The Ailey School. Alonso later worked as dance demonstrator for Mr. Milton Myers at The Juilliard School, The Ailey School and at Steps Dance Studio. He has performed for Ballet Hispanico I and II, The Metropolitan Opera House, and at the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival. From 2017 to the present, Alonso dances under the direction of world-renowned choreographer Karole Armitage.

Outside of the contemporary dance world, Alonso spent pleasurable time dancing and teaching Argentine Tango with Tango Master and partner in life Dardo Galletto. Together they ran a private Argentine Tango Salon in Times Square NYC formerly Dardo Galletto Studios.
